A formfeld wall panel combines design with acoustic function. Each piece becomes a true original through its algorithmically calculated, machine-milled surface structure. Similar to an abstract painting, it can easily be mounted on any available wall space. Its non-directional, organic pattern allows for installation on narrow and long sides. In addition to the four standard formats, custom formats can be produced upon request.
The wood of the mountain maple is even - unlike oak, its pores and fibers are small and inconspicuous. The raw material for a panel comes from a single tree to achieve a homogeneous color. Fine branches, knots, and grain deviations can occur and are essential and distinctive characteristics of the material. The surface of the relief is polished in several steps. We do not treat it with wax oils to preserve the wood's light character. The wood naturally shines with a silky sheen due to its small pores and fibers. Over time, it darkens slightly from exposure to sunlight and artificial light, intensifying the slightly golden color tone.
The unique surface relief of the panel serves a dual purpose, not only providing a visually interesting design feature, but also enhancing the acoustic quality of any space. Its ability to diffuse sound evenly throughout a room helps to create a more pleasant listening experience, while reducing unwanted flutter echoes that can occur between parallel walls.
In addition to its scattering effect, the panel can be further customized to include perforations or micro-perforations that possess sound-absorbing properties. In particular, a perforated panel is an effective absorber in the lower frequency range of human speech (between 250 Hz and 500 Hz), with an Alpha-value of around 0.6, meaning that it can absorb up to 60% of incident sound energy in that range. The micro-perforated variant can absorb up to 90% in this frequency range, making it an excellent choice for spaces where speech intelligibility is important. (For more detailed measurement values, please refer to the technical data sheet.)
Typically, production of the wall panels takes between six and nine weeks. For micro-perforated variants, an additional two weeks may be needed to ensure the highest quality results.
